Testing the Ubuntu[sci] CD
Assumption: there is only a single CD/DVD, which is a live CD and install CD.
Some testing can be done in a virtual machine, but it is necessary to also test on real hardware.
To test the Ubuntusci CD, do the following:
- boot the CD
Confirm that the boot splash screen is correct (displays the Ubuntusci logo and presents options to boot/install Ubuntusci)
- After selecting the appropriate option, ensure that the correct splash image is displayed.
- Ensure that the system boots correctly from CD all the way to the desktop
Ensure that the live desktop is the Ubuntusci one, with the logo and background (and other branding), with the appropriate applications installed, etc
Test the various Ubuntusci applications, as listed in the Spec documents - ensure they run and function correctly
- Start the installer - ensure (welcome screen) that it is the correct installer
- Go through the installation screens, selecting (and recording) some set of profiles for installation
After installation, reboot, ensuring that the correct distro name (Ubuntusci) is used in the grub menu, the system boots successfully all the way to the login screen, the correct splash image is used, the correct login screen theme is used, and the correct desktop (with theme/branding) is loaded (as above)
- Check that all the relevant packages (as per selection of profiles above) are installed (including the ubuntusci-base-desktop packages) and that they function correctly.
