Ubuntu[sci] - Ubuntu Science Remix

The project

The aim of the Ubuntusci project is to develop a remix of Ubuntu Linux for use by scientists. The vision of the project is that Ubuntusci (and thus Ubuntu) will become the premier choice of desktop operating system for researchers and scientists. Ubuntusci is being developed as an Ubuntu remix and all work is released as OSS. Ubuntusci differs from the standard Ubuntu desktop in that it directly support scientists by providing applications to assist them in conducting research. read more >>

The name

The name ubuntusci is derived from Ubuntu and science - it captures the idea of Ubuntu, modified for science.

To facilitate the writing of the name in plain text (where we cannot have a superscript), the name is sometimes written Ubuntu[sci]
